A brand new literacy Campaign has kicked off in Orange, on Wiradjuri country.
On Tuesday, February 25th, staff, students and members of the local community gathered at the Orange Youth HUB to launch the latest Campaign.
Literacy for Life’s Campaigns are community-led and owned. Classes for this intake are now up and running.
Speaking at the launch, Literacy for Life’s Advocacy Officer, Alera Foster, described the value of literacy, as a ‘pathway, it gives opportunities for communities to take ownership and have a say.’
Alera also spoke to the success of a community-led and owned program.
“I always say to everyone, community always puts community first. Meaning that when we want to make a difference, we do it with determination and we do it with the sole purpose of making our community better, not just for us but for our future generations,” Alera said.
