Students and staff are getting ready to celebrate at Literacy for Life Foundation graduation ceremonies to be held in December.
The graduations are a vital part of Literacy for Life Foundation’s approach to lifting adult literacy levels, with the occasions serving a number of purposes.
Firstly, they are a great way to mark a huge milestone. Learning to read and write as an adult takes courage and determination. On graduation day friends, family and the community come together to show students how proud they are of their effort and success.
Graduations are also a chance to acknowledge the hard work and support of the local community, who are an essential part of the literacy campaigns.
The approach Literacy for Life Foundation uses depends on the community taking ownership of the campaign and supporting students and staff all the way. Everything is run as a true community-driven campaign, rather than just a literacy class or course.
It is one of the reasons Literacy for Life Foundation graduation rates are around five times higher than equivalent literacy programs.
See below for more information on the upcoming graduations and thank you to everyone that makes these special occasions possible.
Your support is helping local people bring literacy to their communities.
