Literacy for Life Foundation board member Pat Anderson AO recently received an Honorary Doctorate from Batchelor Institute of Indigenous Tertiary Education in recognition of her outstanding contributions to First Nations rights in health, education and social justice. This recognition reflects Pat’s lifelong commitment to First Nations communities and the profound impact of her work.
We also congratulate Dr. Donna Ah Chee, former Chair of Literacy for Life Foundation, on recently being awarded the Sidney Sax Public Health Medal for her extensive commitment to advancing Aboriginal health and community-controlled health services in Central Australia. Dr Ah Chee is CEO of Central Australian Aboriginal Congress.
Donna and Pat have been integral to the development of an effective, community-controlled, response to the issue of low levels of English language literacy in First Nations communities.
