Making Up For Lost Time

Recently, we celebrated the graduation of students across our adult literacy Campaigns.

A crew from ABC News were there to capture the celebrations in Mt Druitt.

Graduations were also held in Tennant Creek, Yarrabah and Coonamble.

As the ABC story shows, our grass-roots training is led by local communities. That is why it works.

So far more than 460 First Nations students have completed training since 2012.

Results are at least 30 times better than completion rates achieved within mainstream training approaches.

For graduating students like Cathy and Maxine in the video, the experience is life-changing.

The Literacy for Life Foundation would like to thank all our supporters for stepping up to support communities, helping to teach adults to read, write and gain digital literacy skills.

Lifting literacy leads to improvements in health, employment and education, and supports increased self-determination.

The Mount Druitt and Coonamble Campaigns receive funding from the NSW Government. Our Yarrabah and Tennant Creek Campaigns are supported by the Australian Government and the Coonamble Campaign also receives Australian Government funding.
